Job title: Firmware Engineer II

About the role - you will:

  • Support teams across the organization to build highly optimized firmware designs for storage products. This role is critical to our organization.
  • Be part of a team who conceives, designs, develops, and tests firmware solutions for advanced engineering programs
  • Have knowledge of software engineering, computer architecture, memory technologies, data structure and algorithms
  • Possess software programming and debugging skills with the use of hardware and software tools and test equipment to deliver high quality, high-performance firmware for Seagate
  • Analyze, design, program, debug and modify HDD firmware
  • Often work with analog and digital hardware and software operating systems
  • Often rely on your knowledge and exposure to hardware design
  • Frequently program in C

About our group:

We are a multi-site team that is part of our Dataflow and Performance subsystem. We develop firmware solutions to streamline dataflow and improve performance for our Enterprise and Nearline products.

  • Problem solver
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for product improvement
  • Good knowledge about software engineering, computer architecture, memory technologies, data structure and algorithms

Your experience includes:

  • Real time embedded firmware
  • Hardware & firmware interaction
  • C language programming
  • Bachelors' degree and 3+ years of experience

You might also have:

  • Knowledge of data storage systems
  • Hard Disc Drive (HDD)
  • Agile knowledge and experience
  • Software performance analysis and optimization

Location: Shakopee, MN
