Spire is seeking a Damage Prevention Specialist Intern. We seek an enthusiastic, career minded student or recent graduate to join our operation in Kansas City, MO. Our paid internship position affords students the opportunity to learn and be mentored. As an Intern, you may complete various projects and perform administrative duties while developing skills related to the assigned department and the natural gas industry. To be considered, you must:

  • Be a currently enrolled college student studying Engineering, Science, Construction, Safety, Business, or related field, or a new Graduate in either of the above mentioned field(s).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and complete projects based on departmental needs
  • Build Cost Sheets for repairs related to third party damages
  • Invoice repair bills through our Customer Care & Billing (CC&B) system
  • Record and close out reports for payments received
  • Coordinate training meetings with contractors and municipalities
  • Participate in damage prevention training to in-house crews and service technicians
  • All other duties as assigned

Required Education: (may include certifications, licenses, and registrations)

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Must be a currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an undergraduate or graduate degree program in business construction management, safety, business, engineering, or science-relevant degree

Required knowledge, skill, and abilities:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel

Physical demands, work environment and work schedule:

  • Will involve both office and field environments including uneven terrain, inclement weather, and large equipment. Some travel may be required.
