Our diverse workforce creates an environment that fosters collaboration and commitment to our patients. | | Responsibilities | | We are currently seeking applications for a casual, non benefit earning Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse Consultant. Job Functions -- Designs, and evaluates population-based programs of care, with an emphasis on wound care. -- Leads the HCMC Skin Safety Initiative and Team. -- Works with, supports, and acts as expert resource in patient care issues related to Wound, Ostomy and Continence. -- Develops, monitors, and evaluates protocols for wound care treatment and strategies. -- Provides wound and ostomy evaluation and treatment in the inpatient and outpatient setting. -- Provides patient and family education and follow-up. -- Develops an ongoing education program for healthcare team members appropriate for the novice, competent, expert practitioner and teaches HCMC classes related to skin safety. -- Provides education to clinical and medical staff on prevention strategies and treatments. -- Partners with nursing staff throughout HCMC (staff nurses, managers, clinical educators, case managers) and all disciplines, including the medical team, in providing interdisciplinary care and acts as a resource/consultant to the HCMC clinicians regarding wound care management. -- Initiates and participates in research studies. -- Partners with Purchasing to make recommendations for products and supplies and facilitates implementation of these products, using best practice and financial data. -- Develops and maintains clinical algorithm for beds/mattresses, and wound care products. -- Supports new and existing programs, which expand the organization's role in the community. -- Promotes Evidence Based Practice and Research. -- Uses systematic methods of inquiry to investigate patient problems related to wound care. -- Sets measures of success, monitors performance and reports findings to appropriate committees and reporting structures. -- Reports findings and quality data to HCMC, NDNQI, and Performance Improvement. -- Partners with Performance Improvement on reportable ulcers, including validation of all Stage 3 ulcers. -- Performs other related duties as assigned. | | Qualifications | | Minimum Education/Work Experience Required qualifications -- Bachelors degree in Nursing; -- Valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota; -- 2 years of recent, acute care hospital experience; -- Certification in Wound, Ostomy and Continence (CWOCN)
Preferred qualifications: -- Experience developing adult education programs and leading interdisciplinary teams. -- Recent Wound and Ostomy nursing experience.
