VP, Portfolio Management (IT Programs)
As a direct report to the UnitedHealthcare CIO, this leader will be responsible for coordinating all IT work requests across UnitedHealthcare (UHC). Accountable for managing the capital planning and the project prioritization processes for a $40B organization.

Specific responsibilities will include:
  • Participate in the strategic planning process for both the business and IT organizations
  • Work across business leaders to identify IT service requests and map them to strategic plans, prioritize the work and facilitate the capital planning process
  • Define and manage the UHC Portfolio Management function
  • Define and manage work intake and demand management processes
  • Lead the UHC portfolio of large IT development programs and projects
  • Build and direct a senior team of program and project managers to execute projects from beginning to end to deliver on-time, on-budget, on benefit and on-quality
  • Direct and manage work in accordance with internal methodologies and best practices
  • Manage and track the IT change agenda relative to the process and organizational change agenda
  • Horizontal coordination of vertical domain focused business analysts
  • Manage status reporting process, steering committees and other activities related to the portfolio
  • Build and track domain process models
  • Respond to business case requests
  • Support business analysts and the CIO with detailed analysis and reporting as needed
Qualifications
Candidates will possess:
  • 15 years program and portfolio management experience
  • 10 years business process mapping experience
  • 15 years IT project management experience
  • 15 years capital planning and business case development experience
  • Broad experiences across many IT disciplines
  • Ability to translate a business agenda into technology terms and vice-versa
  • Demonstrated people leadership abilities
  • Prior interactions within the cSuite of a Fortune 500 company
  • Experience creating business cases and involvement in investment decisions
  • Proven experience successfully delivering multi-million dollar programs with discipline
  • Ability to build trust and long-term relationships across both business and IT constituents
  • Prior success building effective relationships within a highly matrixed environment
  • Experience leading diverse resources across multiple programs simultaneously
  • Prior experiences delivering on change agendas
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in related area, advanced degree preferred
