Major Areas of Accountability:
1. Evaluates technical requirements of new and existing products. Applies knowledge of qualified sources and products to recommend materials to Design Engineering which meet form, fit and function requirements, and result in savings, lead time reductions, system improvements, increased life and/or mitigated risk.
2. Leads onsite supplier qualifications for Electrical & Computing category suppliers by providing insight on supplier capabilities and comparison to other market suppliers. Ensures supplier qualifications meet requirements by performing comprehensive onsite supplier assessments that ensure sound operational processes (quality system, purchasing practices), capability (facilities, equipment, and knowledge) and adequate financial position for project or SPD/R&D specific materials.
3. Responsible for all continuous improvement activities that impact Electrical & Computing Category metric for cost, quality and delivery, including leading supplier quality improvement efforts and managing the supplier scorecard and feedback process.
4. Researches and sources materials and replacement parts for service, after market support, R&D and SPD groups
5. Engages suppliers to solicit value engineering ideas and manages the execution of value engineering projects within the respective category team.
6. Acts as liaison between the supplier and engineering on all technical specification and print clarification issues.
7. Evaluates and approves sources ensuring products meet technical and product safety compliance standards such as Rohs, CE, UL, CCC and REACH.
8. Performs buyer responsibilities within assigned category team and other duties as assigned .
