Position Description

Formulation Chemist - Energetic Materials



Our client seeks an experienced Chemist with strong experience in energetic materials seeking to leverage and broaden their experience and knowledge and become a strong contributor to our growing team.




Our client is a Midwest based company servicing industrial and defense concerns across the nation. As a progressive company supplying energetic materials, delivery systems and R & D expertise they seek a strong Chemist to support growth.







Summary of Work Performed:




  • Safe manufacturing and blending of propellants, explosives, and pyrotechnics.

  • Continually create, maintain, and improve procedures and standards relating to the safety and efficiency of energetic material handling.

  • Test and process materials according to standards.

  • Ensure that the accuracy and condition of all energetic and chemical items are maintained.

  • Record data as a result of blending, testing and processing operations.

  • Maintain equipment and facilities as directed.

  • Assist in development of new processing methods and test procedures.


  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 to 7 years experience manufacturing propellants, explosives and pyrotechnics.

  • BS degree / MS degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience with strong chemistry, mathematics and communication skills.

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, written and verbal skills

  • Self sufficiency to drive improvement / closure to actions

  • Proven ability to multi-task with good organization and prioritization skills
