Position Description
Responsibilities:
Successful candidate will:
• Instruct EUT courses, such as AC and DC circuits and devices, transmission, distribution, and metering
• Evaluate, advise, and recruit students in EUT and Renewable Energy program
• Develop and update curriculum as necessary, including that related to renewable energy
• Conduct/participate in department meetings, advisory committee meetings and college-wide meetings
• Maintain currency in field through participation in professional organizations and field- related activities
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Academics
Minimum Qualifications:
Educational Substitutions
• Bachelor or above degree in appropriate major and 4000 hours of occupational experience or
• Associate degree or two year diploma (90 quarter credits) in appropriate field and 6000 hours of occupational experience or
• One year diploma in appropriate field and 7000 hours of occupational experience or
• Courses for credit or clock hours (1 quarter credit/20 hours or 1 semester credit/30 hours) with an appropriate title or prefix and occupational hours totaling 8000.
Occupational Experience Requirement
• 8000 hours of occupational experience in the electrical repair of industrial equipment, machines (not electric motors) includes maintenance of electrical systems in large buildings. Not an electrician on commercial or residential sites.
Recency Requirement
• One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience working with Ojibwe and/or other American Indian communities
• Willingness to learn about and work with cultures other than one’s own
• Knowledge of renewable energy systems, such as wind, solar, and biomass
• Knowledge of electrical utilities industry
• Willingness to explore cross-disciplinary opportunities in EUT and renewable energy fields
