Starkey is hiring for an entry level Manufacturing Engineer at it's global headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN. If you are fresh graduate with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering looking for a launch pad for your engineering career with a company that grows its engineers, and have a drive to learn and develop relationships this could be your opportunity. This position is responsible for ensuring product designs are achieving business goals by effectively implementing robust manufacturing processes and supporting continuous improvement into manufacturing. Must have a strong understanding of design or engineering a product in order to facilitate change(s) of a new or current manufacturing process that will improve our manufacturing efficiencies. Must have strong communication skills, technical drive, persistence, and team building skills focused on maintaining a quality product. The person in this position will be responsible for fixing potential problems during all product development phases, continuation, and end of life to support the designs that are recognized as best- in-class in the hearing aid industry.

Approach and Deployment

  • Lead Continuation Engineering and CAPA projects and initiatives.
  • Continually improve the manufacturing processes of our custom, standard, and accessory products. Implement engineering solutions across Global Starkey Operations.
  • Partner with Design and MFG Engineering on product sustainment. Participate in design reviews, establish manufacturing requirements, and coordinate needed testing or device builds.
  • Partner with Quality Engineering to identify and implement ongoing quality improvements.
  • Represent Manufacturing Engineering (voice of manufacturing) to other development teams within R&D, Quality, and Site Engineering.
  • Act as technical manufacturing lead on sustaining Engineering Projects
  • Support and provide input for DFM improvements through Program / Project charters and system requirements specifications.
  • Deploy Site Validation efforts for legacy products into new regions.
  • Qualify and validate new and improved processes, fixtures, equipment, and technology for manufacturability.
  • Partner with Site Engineering to investigate global improvement opportunities through PFMEA RPN reduction, DMAIC efforts, Kaizen support, A3s, and Value Stream Mapping.

Results

  • Product & Process improvements with reduced rework and scrap in manufacturing. (Internal rework and warranty repair rates).
  • Track Manufacturing yield scorecard or dashboards performance and continuously improve it.
  • Completion of CER's (Continuation Engineering Requests, CAR's (Corrective Action Requests), and CAPAs, on time.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or equivalent work experience required. Six Sigma Green belt preferred.

Experience:

  • Relevant experience in a product development and manufacturing environment required; hearing industry or medical device industry experience preferred.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of new product development systems required.
  • Knowledge of process validation required.
  • Knowledge of relevant product development methods and best practices (i.e. DMAIC, PFMEA, Lean, DOE, etc.).
  • Experience solving advanced technical problems.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, simultaneously.
