POSITION SUMMARY:
This position performs work in such areas as benefit administration, Americans with Disability Act (ADA), leaves of absence, workers compensation, and other job related duties as required.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):
  1. Serves as the primary contact and advises employees regarding topics related to ADA, workers compensation, leaves of absences, and other related areas.

  2. Coordinates and facilitates the return of all employees from medical leaves of absence.

  3. Facilitates the return to work process by acting as the liaison between the employee, Qualified Rehabilitation Consultant (QRC), third party administrator, and site supervisor or principal.

  4. Administers all workers compensation claims including follow-up with employee, supervisor, payroll, and third party administrator on all lost time claims.

  5. Identifies and maintains a list of employees working in 'light duty' positions used in the return to work program for employees on workers compensation or who otherwise qualify due to medical conditions.

  6. Coordinate the placement of employees who have been injured on the job or have some type of medical disability into light duty positions.

  7. Monitors employees' workers compensation claims process and tracks significant dates related to each claim.

  8. Researches and makes recommendations regarding possible accommodations for ADA applicants; coordinates meeting with ADA interactive meeting members and applicants requesting accommodations; drafts correspondence detailing the outcome of the ADA interactive meeting and send to the relevant parties

  9. Processes long-term disability and serve as the liaison between employees and the benefit providers

  10. All other duties as assigned



Required:
  1. 4-year degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  2. Minimum of 3 years of human resources/benefit related experience.

  3. Associate degree and/or comparable training and experience

  4. Strong knowledge of employment law as it relates to Human Resources, Workers Compensation, Family and Medical Leave Act, and Americans with Disability Act

  5. Extensive knowledge of COBRA regulations, FMLA, & HIPAA Privacy.

  6. Basic knowledge of payroll practices and regulations.

  7. Excellent computer skills including MS Word, MS Excel, data entry, & 10-key proficiency.

  8. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  9. Effective writing and communication skills.

  10. Excellent customer service and organizational skills.

  11. Strong aptitude for accounting and reconciling.

  12. Must be a team player and have the ability to work independently.

  13. Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.

  14. Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.

  15. Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.

Desired:
  1. SHRM certification (Human Resources) and/or CPP certification (Payroll)

  2. Experience processing benefits for multiple bargaining units;

  3. Experience in a school district setting

  4. Familiarity with Skyward software.
