Overview
The purpose of this position is to collect research study data among participants of the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study, and the Aging and Cognitive Health Evaluation in Elders (ACHIEVE) Study. ARIC is a study of individuals, now aged 80-100 years, who have been followed for over 35 years to better understand risk factors for cardiovascular disease, dementia, and other chronic conditions. ACHIEVE is a randomized controlled trial designed to determine if treating hearing loss in older adults reduces cognitive decline. This position will be a 50/50 split between both studies, but there is significant overlap between the two. Training on all data collection activities will be provided.
Position Responsibilities:
40% Perform cognitive testing
40% Perform other clinical data collection
10% Serve as a resource for specific data collection component
2.5% Maintain equipment and space, according to study protocols
2.5% Participant in regular staff, study-wide and/or Division meetings
5% Other duties as needed (e.g. support coordination of rides for participants to/from clinic using ride service, scheduling participant
visits)

Epidemiology and Community Health:
The Division of Epidemiology & Community Health focuses on disease and health in various populations. Our faculty and students examine the distribution, cause and prevention of diseases, and how human behavior affects overall health.

The work of epidemiologists spreads across sectors and areas of study, so our division and faculty are often partnering with other research entities and community organizations on public health research and interventions.
