Position Description

Anoka County Adult Protection investigates allegations of maltreatment and arranges services to help assure the safety of vulnerable adults in our community. This position will partner with Assessment Social Workers to support the health and safety needs of vulnerable adults in the community. The Associate Social Worker will possess beginning to working knowledge of subject matter, handles basic issues and problems associated with social work, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.

This is a full-time, exempt, hybridposition. Interviews will take place the week of May 27th, 2024 for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.

Pay & Benefits

  • Salary: $60,819.20 to $72,966.40 ($29.24 to $35.08 per hour

  • 2024 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 32. $60,819.20 to $85,113.60 ($29.24 to $40.92 per hour).

Work Location

  • This position will work at Anoka County Government Center, located at 2100 3rd Ave, Anoka, MN 55303.

  • This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work, with some days working remotely and some days working in the office.

  • This position will work in the community as needed, in client homes and transporting clients.

  • Expected work hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Social Worker.

  • Partner with APS Social Workers to provide direct assistance to individuals and their support networks to assist them in meeting their basic needs, goals or program requirements.

  • Meet with individuals in office-based and community-based settings.

  • Complete case notes.

  • Maintain case files and records.

  • Participate in support planning and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.

  • Respond to crisis situations to ensure safety and well-being of vulnerable adults.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a closely related field.

  • In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

  • Valid driver's license and vehicle available for business use.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • One year or more (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience working with vulnerable adults and/or individuals that are affected by issues including neglect, domestic violence, disability, mental health, homelessness, and financial insecurities.

  • Experience working within SSIS database.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Skilled in problem-solving, critical thinking and effective time management.

Physical Demands and Work Conditions

  • Standard office environment

  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades, and brightness

  • Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds

  • Assignments are sedentary, occasionally alternating between sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling as required to perform job responsibilities. Frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer work

  • Occasional lifting of 10-20 lbs.

  • Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment

  • Travel within the community as needed. Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle
