About the Job

The Construction & Design Supplier Diversity Manager ("Manager") is primarily responsible for developing and implementing the University's strategy to increase the diversity of architect, construction, and engineering firms, as well as associated suppliers and workforces doing business with the University.


The Manager works closely with the University's Capital Project Management department, Parking & Transportation Services department, Facilities Management departments, Purchasing department, private-sector firms, community stakeholders, and industry organizations to implement compliance processes and to identify new project-based opportunities for women, BIPOC, and disabled-owned businesses and corresponding workforces. The Manager reports directly to OSD's Executive Director.

The Office for Supplier Diversity offers a collaborative, mission-driven work environment, with excellent work-life balance, and the ability to perform duties with a significant impact on the University and larger community. The Manager position is a full-time, year-round, civil service position. The University offers a competitive compensation package, commensurate with experience and background, and excellent benefits. The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000.

Duties and Responsibilities
Project Administration & Compliance - 45%
Implement targeted business program procedures in architect, construction, and engineering projects as set forth in the Board of Regents policy: Targeted Business, Community Economic Development, and Small Business Programs.
Develop and implement procedures to ensure that the University and external businesses comply with the Board of Regents policy.
Develop and implement strategies to set and monitor supplier diversity goals, as well as to annually report on the University's goal attainment to the University and the Board of Regents.

Business Development Support - 45%
Conduct outreach and networking with architect, construction, and engineer industry organizations.
Partner with the OSD Business Development Manager to develop and grow initiatives and activities specific to the architect, construction, and engineer industry.

Leadership Support 10%
Support the OSD Executive Director on strategic planning and data requests pertaining to architecture, construction, and engineering.
Support leaders throughout the University on understanding supplier diversity and driving special projects pertaining to architecture, construction, and engineering.

Qualifications

Essential
-Bachelor's degree plus at least 4 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal 8 years.
-Experience working in the area of process improvement, project management, and/or compliance activities.
-Strong interpersonal skills: ability to manage and resolve conflict in a collaborative and respectful way plus demonstrated networking and outreach capabilities
-Excellent oral and written communications skills.
-Strong attention to detail
-Experience working in or parallel to the fields of architecture, construction or engineering.
-Demonstrated ability to operate complex software programs to store and organize data, to produce data reports, and to effectuate compliance actions.
-Demonstrated experience in, and an ongoing commitment to, working effectively with and across diverse communities including people of color; underrepresented groups, new immigrant populations; people with both visible and invisible disabilities; women; people of various gender and sexual identities and expressions; and individuals from economically-disadvantaged backgrounds.

Preferred
-Experience managing supplier diversity programs.
-Experience working in supply chains.
-Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws related to supplier diversity.
-Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SmartComp software.
