SUMMARY

The Director of Business Development is responsible for profitably achieving sales and margins targets with The Home Depot. This role creates the business strategy, product and program plans, and sales plan in partnership with The Home Depot merchants.

The geographic scope of this role is the US and Canada.

The Director of Business Development is a member of the Storm Door Business Unit Operating Committee and The Home Depot Group Operating Committee.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish productive relationships and strategically influence Home Depot personnel including the VP of Merchandising, category merchants, online merchant, inventory replenishment team, and visual merchandising.
  • Delivers business results - effectively monitors business performance against goals, executes tactical adjustments as needed, creates an environment of accountability with cross-functional partners to deliver the business plan.
  • Develops business strategy by effectively monitoring competitive dynamics, industry, and environmental factors and influencing Andersen and Home Depot teams. Maintains competitive product "planogram" of competitors products, features & benefits, and price points. Develops annual operating plan for the Storm Door business with Home Depot.
  • Responsible for developing our various programs, SKU management, developing and implementing pricing programs, and developing national promotional plans and buys. Includes the negotiation and writing of "host" buys which can result in single purchases in excess of $7MM.
  • Creates short- and long-term product and program roadmap, in partnership with Storm Door Business Unit. Responsible for optimizing our stock and special order planograms.
  • Provides business insights to drive the sales forecasting process.
  • Develops, maintains, negotiates and implements price increases.
  • As member of THD Group Operating Committee, cultivates team culture and identify by leading a key pillar of our DEI Action Plan and by fostering belonging and creating an inclusive environment.
  • Influences the delivery of business strategy and tactics through cross-functional collaboration, including Field Sales, Marketing, RD&I, Product Management, and the Storm Door Operating Committee.

  • May lead one or more business managers focused on developing particular business opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred.
  • 5 or more years of window and door industry experience
  • 5 or more years of product management, business management, or strategic account management experience
  • Retail acumen - creates solutions that achieve the right balance of products, services, and programs for the customer.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills.
  • Strong planning skills. Ability to analyze complex business situations and develop well written and readily understood business plans incorporating complex business factors
  • Prolific personal selling and negotiating skills. Ability to develop, communicate and influence compelling business cases which result in multi-million dollar decisions
  • Strategic Leadership - Identifies information from external and internal sources to develop short and long term strategy to drive growth and profitability
  • Drives Business Results and Accountability - creates an intentional plan to drive business results. Provides feedback, coaching, and influence to cross-functional partners to deliver business result

In 2024, Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $4,000 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
