Key Position Details:

  • Will support the East Region (United, United-Regina and River Falls)
  • This is not a remote position; travel will be required within the East Region locations.

Job Description:

Manages multiple physician group and services, which may include; Intensivists, Adult Hospitalist, Pediatric Hospitalists and MD Contract management. Advocates for and maximizes the use of available resources to ensure the delivery of efficient, safe, and compassionate patient care. Provide leadership to promote shared decision making and professional autonomy of physicians, staff, and other leaders both within and across departments. Provides administrative leadership and expertise to support assigned physician groups and serves as a link between physicians and staff throughout the organization. Builds and maintains relationships with key stakeholders to ensure that the business needs are met in an effective manner. Onsite presence is required.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Leadership responsibilities.
    • Hire, develop, retain, and lead physicians and staff to accomplish business goals and objectives.
    • Provide leadership and mentoring opportunities for staff.
    • Promote collaborative work teams and facilitate education, training and coaching among clinical support staff to achieve quality patient care.
    • Ensure support staff's performance is reviewed annually.
    • Solves problems of moderate complexity using independent judgment, and escalates high complexity problems when necessary.
    • Challenges others' thinking to create effective and efficient work processes.
  • Communication.
    • Has a high-level of understanding of employee and business unit operations and policies and how they interface with and guide the organization.
    • Build trust and credibility with physicians, staff, and key stakeholders, through timely communications and information sharing.
    • Seek input from key stakeholders, and keeps stakeholders informed.
    • Deliver tough messages with respect and care.
    • Provide direct and timely feedback and recognition to staff and physicians in a timely manner.
  • Financial management.
    • Communicate developed budgets with staff and manage to the developed budget of each department within scope of responsibility.
    • Develop budgets and financials for assigned department.
    • Achieve goals on or below budget, through effective use of resources (information, financial, materials and staff), and be able to speak to any existing variances.
    • Implement strategies to generate revenue, manage expenses and improve operations.
    • Use data to monitor revenue, expense, and productivity levels.
    • Share insights and adapt quickly to changing business needs.
    • Demonstrate sound business judgment, while encouraging appropriate risk taking.
  • Strategic management.
    • Develops and leads collaborative partnerships across departments, and across the system to achieve results and improve performance.
    • Incorporate the system's strategic plans into MD practice requirements.
    • Takes initiative to become more knowledgeable about Allina's business and healthcare industry trends.
    • Creates infrastructure for change through effective leadership skills.
    • Champions new and innovative ideas to address business unit/system barriers and expand opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree business management, health administration, or related field and
  • 5 to 7 years of experience working in healthcare, specifically experience working with physicians
  • 2 to 5 years of supervisor experience in a hospital based setting


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in business administration, or health administration or related field

Physical Demands

Sedentary:
Lifting weight Up to 10 lbs. occasionally, negligible weight frequently
