At Daikin Applied, as the Design Supervisor, you will supervise new product development design and drafting staff to effectively produce 3D shapes, drawings and bills of materials needed by Manufacturing to build products. This includes newly designed equipment, special products, and the maintenance of products through the initial launch. Establishes policies and procedures within the department. Originates and develops ideas to design the form of manufactured products by performing the following duties:

A Day in the Life:

  • Designs and redesigns safe and technically sound products that meet the design requirements.
  • Estimates resource requirements and coordinate with Engineering Manager to maintain compliance with planned headcount, budgets, and schedules. Reports on status and tracking to meet those deliverables.
  • Provide CAD/Configurator/PDM expertise, direction, and coordination with IT for system capabilities and hardware requirements in various documentation environments.
  • Issues accurate and complete engineering documentation for the generation of engineering and manufacturing database and fabrication of parts in the factories.
  • Completes special assignments or projects in a timely manner giving consideration to quality manufacturability, functionality, serviceability and cost.
  • Selects, trains, motivates and evaluates a competent staff assuring optimum use of individual and collective capabilities. Manage CAD resource allocations and meet Project deliverables to fulfill Product Development objectives and schedules.
  • Ensures Drafting Group conformance with Sustaining Product and ISO documentation.
  • Establishes, monitors and implements consistent design documentation practices. Ensure Drafting Group establishes and delivers consistent drawing documentation practices (format and content) as well as consistent bill of material structures.

What you will Bring:

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school. Ten plus years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office software suite and Internet software.
  • Prior Supervisory experience
