North Star Bank is looking for a Universal Banker to service the needs of existing and prospective customers to help them achieve their financial goals by providing solutions that are in their best interests.  Responsibilities will cross a diverse range of functional areas based on organizational and customer needs including consumer and business accounts, loan administration, deposit account services, and cash management product referrals.  In addition, this position will provide exceptional customer service, through performing a variety of routine and complex business transactions in maintaining accuracy and professionalism during face-to-face transactions.  Through active listening and building genuine relationships take opportunities when presented to educate our customers and introduce them to value-add products or services that can enhance their financial objectives.  Our goal is for everyone who contacts the North Star Bank LPO/DPO office to become a raving fan based on prompt, proactive service.  This position will office out of our Monticello LPO/DPO location.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Grow new business relationships and expand existing ones by providing financial guidance for business owners seeking depository accounts, notary services and loans.
  • Welcomes and greets customers when they enter the lobby.  Through conversations identify opportunities to cross-sell value-add bank products and services to enhance the customers financial goals.  Promote the digital and self-serve options by providing the products features and benefits with the goal of making it easy, simple, and fast banking transactions.
  • Takes the initiative to find creative solutions that meets customers’ needs and personalize their experience with seamless execution. 
  • Responsible for achieving continual growth in customer loyalty and satisfaction through providing optimal, accurate, and processing timely transactions to generate raving fans.
  • Open/close consumer and business checking, savings, deposit accounts, IRA, HSA, and CD’s
  • Provide administrative support to Loan Officers on loan portfolios and move the loan applications through internal departments for full processing.
  • Provide administrative support and be a liaison between Loan Officers and banking customers and act as backup contact for Loan Officers when needed.
  • Apply product and procedural knowledge to solve customer inquiries and resolve problems appropriately.
  • Stays abreast with current knowledge of personal banking products, practices, and trends. 
  • Protects the Bank's assets in compliance with all regulatory, legal, and ethical requirements.
  • May work at neighboring location to support business on an as need basis.
  • Open/Close location daily.


Duties to be performed when North Star Bank designation changes from LPO/DPO classification to a full-service branch location.
 
  • Required to perform day to day teller transactions on an as need basis to support customer needs.

Required Education and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Universal Banker or Personal Banker. 
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and basic math skills.  Associate or college degree preferred.
  • Self-motivated to organize, prioritize and produce excellent work in a timely manner to meet deadlines.
  • Previous client service experience is required.
  • Cash handling and/or banking experience is required.
  • Business deposit account services/treasury management, required.
  • General experience in office administrative responsibilities.
  • Technology savvy with proficiency in computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite - Word and Excel. 
  • Experience with Fiserv operating system required and Deposit Pro or BPM knowledge a plus and have the ability to become proficient in other Bank software programs.

Desired Qualifications:
Experience in related capacity will be highly beneficial but not required in areas such as:
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of lending, commercial loans, and loan regulations.
  • Understanding of Loan administration process
  • General knowledge and understanding of in credit administration and credit policies
  • General knowledge and understanding of in business credit analysis
  • Knowledge in consumer lending a plus
  • Certified; NMLS member, notary
  • Stay up to date on NMLS certification

This is a full-time in person position, not remote, at our growing Monticello LPO/DPO location.  Occasional travel to Greater Minneapolis will be required for training and other business purposes.
