The Test Specialist/Computer Scientist will be responsible for creating, updating, reviewing, and executing functional and regression test plans and procedures for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Air Traffic Control (ATC) Systems to ensure the system under test meets all defined requirements. Test related activities may include front-end, back-end, performance, risk-reduction and regression testing of various software or hardware components of the ATC Systems. The position requires significant interaction with other System Test Specialists, Software Engineers and System Engineers along with interface to FAA Customers and Management. Duties will include writing, revising, reviewing, and executing System Test Plans and Regression Procedures for En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) Tech Ops Eval including Monitor and Control (M&C), Failure Mode, External Interfaces, Test and Training /Support System (TTL), and Surveillance. The Test Specialist/Computer Scientist will:
- Evaluate and test software/hardware using various testing techniques to verify functionality and performance according to specifications and requirements.
- Analyze and review System Issues Groups (SIGs) and Problem Reports Engineering Directions (PREDs)
- Collaborate with functional and development teams to define and analyze test artifacts to evaluate and identify system issues
- Directly participate and coordinate with the internal and external subject matter experts (SMEs) on all matters pertinent to the successful implementation of the program or functional area.
- Perform data reduction and analyze test arti facts to identify system problems and options for improving the effectiveness of the test procedures and the Integration test team.
- Contribute to the setup, configuration, execution, and maintenance of the system under test in operational and TTL lab settings
- Participate in review of standards, procedures, tools, and process.

This position currently follows a hybrid schedule. The candidate will be expected to report to the William J. Hughes Technical Center (WJHTC) at least two (2) days per week or as required due to lab schedule.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or another relevant Technical degree plus a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
Required experience and/or knowledge of:
- Experiencing writing and executing test plans and procedures.
- Experience running system level test, risk reduction and regression procedures
- Experience with LINUX/UNIX/AIX based systems
- Experience with MS Office Products
- Experience performing Data Reduction and Analysis
- Experience generating and maintaining test scenarios for Air Traffic Control Systems
- Ability to work off-shift hours, nights, and on occasion weekends.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work as a team and/or independently under general guidelines or objectives
Preferred skills but not required:
- FAA Air Traffic Control Systems Test Experience such as: ERAM, DataComm, ECG/FDIO, ADSB, SWIM, TFMS, EDDS and SSM.
- Familiarization with ERAM test tools such as: SGET, SDRR, PMF, and CHIPS
- Familiarization with ERAM modernization phases: Tech Refresh 2 (TR2) and ERAM Sustainment 3 (ES3)
