SUMMARY: Under the direction of an Engineering Director or Engineering Manager, the Project Engineer is responsible for the design and development of new products and new product features within the NPI development process. Leads or participates in NPI cross-functional teams to develop requirements, develop detailed design, and deliver finished, validated, and approved product to market.

Duties include:

  • Leads or participates in cross-functional teams through all phases of product development and release to ensure projects are completed on-time, at cost, and meet product quality and performance requirements.
  • Manages appropriate NPI requirements, design documentation and validation results from inception to delivery.
  • Provides project status & risk assessments across company, presenting to senior management monthly.
  • May develop project timelines, risk analysis and resource effort estimates on overall programs or key sub-program deliverables.
  • Works closely with all other departments within the company to ensure that product meets customer expectations. (i.e. reliability, manufacturability, aesthetics, customer requirements, regulatory requirements, etc.)
  • Supports prototyping process including definition, sourcing, & execution.
  • Provides technical support for NPI to internal and external product management and marketing representatives.
  • Leads project documentation in compliance with PTI's quality system implementation.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Position is based out of and reports to PTI's HQ in Eden Prairie, MN but allows for the option to work from home office in the Twin Cities, MN metro area up to 3 days a week.

Requirements:

At least a Bachelor's or higher degree in industrial engineering or related engineering field, plus at least 3 years of experience as a project engineer, project analyst or project manager in the automotive, heavy duty or industrial equipment industry.

In addition the position requires at least 3 years of experience with the following:

  • Project Management or Development experience within automotive, heavy duty or industrial equipment industry;
  • Using APQP, including at least 4 of the following 9 quality tools: PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, 8D, RCA, CAPA, or Control Plan.

Position is based out of and reports to PTI's HQ in Eden Prairie, MN but allows for the option to work from home office in the Twin Cities, MN metro area up to 3 days a week.

The position is located at 9700 West 74th Street, Eden Prairie, MN 55328.

Qualifications

Education
Bachelors of Manufacturing Technology (required)

Experience
3 years: Use of APQP, including at least 4 of the following 9 quality tools: PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, 8D, RCA, CAPA or Control Plans. (required)
3 years: Project Management or Development experience within automotive, heavy duty or industrial equipment industry (required)
3 years: Experience as a project engineer, project analyst or project manager in the automotive, heavy duty or industrial equipment industry (required)
