Job Description

Are you driven to create estimates for commercial construction projects? In this crucial role, you'll move projects forward by providing timely, accurate, and consistent estimates. We're seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Electrical Construction team to grasp the electrical scope of projects and propose viable budgets.

With the flexibility of working hybrid, you can collaborate alongside team members and project partners with a blend of working in the office, at home, and on customer and project sites.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop plan & spec and design-build estimates.

  • Critically analyze all documents related to a project, including architectural, structural, mechanical, and specialty systems drawing and specifications; identify the essential items that affect the scope of work.

  • Develops effective relationships with customers, designers, project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project partners.

  • Develop and communicate the trade specific scope of work and subcontractor scopes.

  • Compile and maintain a list of necessary subcontractors (minimum three per trade).

  • Communicate RFP, scope, and coordination items.

  • Provide feedback to vendors and subcontractors.

  • Compile lists of required materials and equipment as it relates to specific projects.

  • Ensure the correct materials are used in estimates.

  • Communicate RFP, scope and coordination items.

  • Attend pre-bid conferences and walkthroughs.

  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs, price, and labor on all items.

  • Enter take-offs into the Enterprise estimating system.

  • Assist Project Managers with change order estimates, as needed.

  • Assist in the development of budget estimates and estimate reviews.

  • Develop standardized assemblies and unit costs.

  • Review project schedule and phasing requirements.

  • Understand the plan for constructability: material handling, prefabrication, means and methods, risk identification.

  • Identify general condition needs, such as tools required, equipment rentals, lifts, and miscellaneous.

  • Participate in project turnover, set up and post-project reviews.

  • Build strong internal partnerships; work collaboratively with other Egan groups to support Egan's Mission, Vision, and Values.

  • Visit project and customer sites as needed.

Requirements:
  • 10+ years of estimating experience in related industry.

  • Two-year degree or applicable vocational technical certificate.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications/narratives and blueprints for all trades that impact electrical.

  • Working knowledge of codes in the electrical discipline and comfort level with cost per sq ft project analysis.

  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.

  • Ability to build and foster long-term relationships and effectively interact with a variety of personalities; follow through with commitments.

  • Ability to foresee events and anticipate changes in conditions and operations to the greatest extent possible and react to these appropriately.

  • Possess strong organizational skills to effectively handle competing customer needs and priorities.

  • Diligent and resourceful in seeking solutions to problems and adapting to new situations.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide sufficiently to perform standard mathematical calculations.

  • Previous experience using estimating software and proficient in the use of standard office computer programs such as MS Project, Word, Excel and Google Suite.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
