Peer Tutor
Position Overview: Peer Tutors provide tutoring to individual students and groups of students in person and virtually. Peer Tutors assist students in improving academic performance through study skill development, subject-specific tutoring, and/or academic writing development. Peer Tutors model techniques, strategies, attitudes, and beliefs contributing to student success.
Essential Duties:
  • Tutor students in a specific discipline, on effective academic writing, and/or general study skills, organization, and time management. Peer Tutors support students through individual or group-based tutoring sessions, both in person and online.
  • Show up to scheduled shift/session on time and provide updated availability information. Respond to emails and tutor requests within 24 hours and develop a tutoring schedule with clients
  • Work cooperatively with students, other tutoring staff, and faculty.
  • Complete required training and maintain accurate records of hours and services provided.
  • Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Expertise in a specific academic subject discipline and/or skill.

  • Passionate about helping others learn and an appreciation for different learning styles and abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, excellent listening skills, reliable, professional, responsible, resourceful, and able to "meet students where they're at."

General Comments:
Peer Tutors at Concordia play an important role in helping students integrate effective learning and study strategies, while at the same time helping to clarify and/or reinforce course content, assignments, and material. Peer Tutors are essential in supporting Concordia students on their way to graduation and beyond!
