Job Description
The Direct Support Professional (Residential Counselor) is responsible for the daily well-being and safety of the residents he/she supervises. The residential counselor assists the resident with all the activities of daily living, personal cares and program implementation. Residential counselors insure adequate supervision of residents; assist with household maintenance and house-keeping. The Residential Counselor may accompany the resident to appointments and community activities. The Residential Counselor documents electronically all program data and daily log information accurately and in a timely fashion. Adequate supervision means- "if your shift replacement does not arrive, you are expected to remain on shift at your work site until a suitable replacement staff has been located and arrives to replace you." Residential Counselors communicate effectively with others at work verbally and in writing, using the primary spoken language of residents in the home. Residential Counselors administer medications without errors (as requested) and demonstrate mastery of basic computer skills.

Qualifications: Interest in working with persons with Developmental Disabilities. Must pass Department of Human Services background check and maintain “qualified” status. Must not be excluded from working in government health programs by the Office of Inspector General. Must be able to successfully complete company’s basic job skills assessments. Must have a valid current driver’s license and must have insurance as required by state law.

Paid training and orientation! No experience required.
