Overview
Tornier's team of Regional Managers (RMs) will provide field-based clinical expertise, training and education, and targeted product launch and strategic initiatives support to its customers and sales representatives. The scope of the Lower Extremities RM is to be sales, technical and clinical experts of all aspects of foot and ankle surgery with respect to Tornier's arthroplasty, osteosynthesis, biologics, and sports medicine product lines.

Key responsibilities
*Support the sales activities working closely with distributors' sales representatives
  • Teach by example on competitive selling tactics to establish and defend sustainable lower extremity business.
  • Develop the local market by identifying and calling on key customer accounts
  • Act as the first-line expert resource on the technical aspects of lower extremity products and procedures.
  • Assist in physician identification & targeting for thought leader development, invitation to specialized regional/national education events, and participation in clinical research.
  • Spend significant time in the OR assisting with education of proper technique.
  • Provide surgeon and sales representative local in-service programs.
  • Assist with training distributors' team/local experts (goal to have enough distributor-hired specialists able to effectively service each MSA in their territory).
  • Assist physicians and hospitals with reimbursement guidelines for respective product lines
*Training
  • Deliver presentations
  • Sales presentations, role play, objection handling, etc
  • Hands on cadaveric, saw bones
  • General surgical tools for lower extremity surgery
*Launches and special initiatives
  • Local launch events
  • Targeting and LUR/controlled release
  • Feedback and improvements
*Work with respective product managers and directors of marketing to refine and continuously improve
  • Physician targeting, on-boarding and sales representative transfer
  • Surgeon workshops, forums, and training events
  • Sales representative training program
  • Marketing tools and programs

Background/experience (existing skill sets desired)
*Key competencies in competitive selling, sales training, and team building.
*Strong demonstrated medical technology sales results with extremities arthroplasty, trauma, biologics and/or sports medicine experience a plus
*Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate clinical and scientific messages relevant to surgeon and rep needs
*Excellent communication & presentation skills
*Strong results orientation
*Clinical experience and orthopedic anatomic familiarity

Training expectations (skill sets to be acquired)
*Deep knowledge of current clinic concepts, controversies, and trends
  • Foot and ankle arthroplasty
  • Foot and ankle trauma, fusion, and deformity correction
  • Achilles tendon, lateral ankle instability, and other soft tissue procedures
  • Science of orthopedic tissue healing and biologic mechanisms of action
*Deep knowledge of Tornier's specific lower extremity products
