The Educational Credit Management Corporation (ECMC) exists to provide a unique range of services to students, schools and lenders participating in the Federal Family Educational Loan Program.

  • ECMC guarantees Stafford, PLUS, and Consolidation loans for students, parents, schools, and lenders; and acts as the designated guarantor for the Commonwealth of Virginia and the state of Oregon

  • ECMC provides information and assistance to borrowers whose loans were originally guaranteed by the Higher Education Assistance Foundation (HEAF)

  • ECMC provides technical assistance to other participants in the Federal Family Educational Loan Program as required by the U.S. Secretary of Education
