General Purpose of Position
 
Develop new and modify existing programs on controlled equipment such as robots, welders, and lasers in addition to testing and maintaining complex electronic and electro-mechanical systems, specialized test apparatus and custom production equipment.
 
 
 
Primary Responsibilities 
 
  • Develop, build and maintain electronic and electrical circuitry for electronic and electrical/electro-mechanical control devices from blueprints, schematics, logic diagrams or engineering instructions, including the ability to program and use programmable controllers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic on systems. Identify faults and locate errors in electronic/electric equipment, fixtures, robot programs, welding and laser equipment and hydraulic and pneumatic controls.  Also completes preventive maintenance as required.
  • Documents equipment circuitry, preventive maintenance, procedures, weld specifications and programs.
  • Under guidance of an engineer and/or supervisor, determine/maintains proper sequence of operations on robotics, laser and automatic/semi-automatic equipment.  Provide or assist in set up, parameter development, welding equipment alignment and performance of associated equipment.
  • Rebuild and install automatic/semi-automatic MIG, TIG and resistance weld equipment.  Set up complete robotics work cells (weld/laser, etc.) automatic and semi-automatic systems in conjunction with an engineer and/or supervisor.
  • Utilize visual inspection and assistance from Quality Assurance to determine quality and consistency of welds, cuts and general operation of equipment.  Make/suggest adjustments to ensure compliance with Shiloh standards.
  • Assist in continuous improvement of the PM work instructions; adding, removing, defining these instructions and express improvements suggested to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Proactive maintenance activities that include repairing air leaks, oil leaks, replacing components, continuous improvement activities, project work, and minor repairs to equipment.
  • Acts as a proactive team member and works closely with the maintenance Supervisor.  Analyzes and recommends engineered solutions to failures.
  • Maintains 5S standards in assigned area.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
 
 
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
 
Required Education
  • Associates degree in electronics, electronics technology, automation technology or equivalent work experience
 
Required Work Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years in Automation related field.
 
Required Technical Skills:  
  • Knowledge of electrical designs. 
  • Motor controls.
  • Knowledge of computer programming and troubleshooting.
  • Basic S.L.C. 500 PLC programming
  • ABB & Robot programming
  • Read blueprints or technical diagrams
  • Perform PM’s and repairs on ABB robots, printers, and other associated equipment to board level; programs ABB
  • Installs equipment in a fully automated work cell from concept/design to actual production
  • Ability to interpret programmable logic controllers; I/O diagnostics, programming of safety interlocks and ancillary equipment interlocks, backing up and restoring programs, edit and documentation follow-up.
