Community Outreach to Veterans

VUB staff and instructors assist veterans by developing, improving, and extending educational access and opportunities to eligible veterans through academic needs assessment, instruction, enrichment, and other academic support activities. Veterans Upward Bound projects are funded by the U. S. Department of Education and serve eligible veterans across the nation.

The Polk County Veterans' Services Department provides assistance to veterans and their dependents regarding federal and state veteran benefit programs. It considers, prepares, and processes various forms relative to petition and application for various veterans' benefits. .

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) is the state’s principal economic development agency. DEED programs promote business recruitment, expansion, and retention; international trade; workforce development; and community development. DEED facilitates an economic environment to produce jobs and improve the quality of the state’s workforce. These actions support the economic success of Minnesota individuals, businesses, and communities by providing opportunities for growth.

Scott County Veterans Service assists veterans of the county, their dependents and survivors, in securing Federal and State benefits provided by law because of their service in the Armed Forces of the United States. Veterans Service Personnel help in the development of claims, preparations of government forms, and accessing information for them in connection with their claims for benefits from various State and Federal agencies.

The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), the premier professional military engineering association in the United States, unites architecture, engineering, construction (A/E/C), facility management and environmental entities and individuals in the public and private sectors to prepare for—and overcome—natural and manmade disasters, and to improve security at home and abroad.

Vet Centers provide readjustment counseling and outreach services to all veterans who served in any combat zone. Services are also available for their family members for military related issues. Veterans have earned these benefits through their service and all are provided at no cost to the veteran or family. The Department of Veterans Affairs Vet Center program operates a system of 232 community based counseling centers. The Vet Centers are staffed by small multi-disciplinary teams of dedicated providers, many of which are combat veterans themselves.

Veterans For Peace, Inc. (VFP) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational and humanitarian organization dedicated to the abolishment of war. To achieve these goals, members of Veterans For Peace pledge to use non-violent means and to maintain an organization that is both democratic and open with the understanding that all members are trusted to act in the best interests of the group for the larger purpose of world peace.

It is our mission to provide assistance and support to veterans and their dependents in obtaining veteran benefits through the state and federal programs and to act as an advocate on their behalf or direct them to other authorized agencies or providers as their needs dictate.

The Washington County Veterans' Service office provides assistance and support to veterans and their dependents in obtaining potential benefits from the State of Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs and Federal Department of Veterans Affairs. We also advocate on behalf of the veteran and their dependents or direct them to other authorized agencies or providers as their need dictate.

Welcome to East Grand Forks VFW Post 3817. Our Post was chartered in 1941 and has been an active part of the community for over 69 years. Our members have a long history of service to their Country and to the Community. Our mission objective is simple. The VFW’s mission is to support those who sacrifice so much for this country—veterans, those currently serving in our US Armed Forces, and their families.

The County Veterans Service Officers Association of Wisconsin (CVSOA) is an organization of professional veterans advocates. In Wisconsin the County Veterans Service Officer plays a critical role in the veteran's advocacy system and is often the initial contact in the community for veteran’s services. Through the County Veterans Service Officer the CVSOA is committed to Wisconsin counties to provide a vital and efficient system of services and advocacy to veterans, their dependents, and survivors.
